A wholly-owned subsidiary of SMBC Nikko Securities Inc., SMBC Nikko Investment Fund Management Company S.A. (“SNIF”) is a Luxembourg-based management company of investment funds.
SNIF manages funds domiciled in Luxembourg and in the Cayman Islands and is a member of the major Japanese finance and banking group Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group. The company was founded in 1992.
SNIF obtained a license as AIFM (alternative investment fund manager) in April 2014 and is registered with the Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier ("CSSF") as a management company under chapter 16 of the Luxembourg law of December 17, 2010 (as amended from time to time) relating to undertakings for collective investment. It conducts its fund management activities in close collaboration with SMBC Nikko Bank (Luxembourg) S.A. (usually acting as custodian and NAV calculation agent), with distributors in Japan and with investment managers based in Luxembourg or elsewhere, while handling risk management and legal monitoring duties.
The funds under SNIF's management are diverse and deal with a wide range of investment types (fixed income, equity...), sectors (emerging markets and developed markets) and strategies. They are exclusively sold to retail or institutional investors located in Japan.
